The Leningrad Siege

Cuban born pianist and composer Marietta Veulens has quickly earned a reputation as one of the UK’s most sought after and exciting pianist composers on the Latin and Jazz scene today. A rich and sexy fusion of classical, Afro-Cuban music and jazz, her unique and passionate sound is not to be missed.

“We could have gone on all night ... The energy, exuberance and joy that poured out from the performance was amazing. Marietta Veulens, playing magnificently on piano ...”
Morning Star

This April she launched her debut album as part of La Linea ‘06, The London Latin Music Festival produced by ¡ComoNo! at the Queen Elizabeth Hall.

As a soloist and with her jazz group Trio Habana (with Wilmer Sifontes and Jimmy Martinez), she has played at Ronnie Scott’s, The Soho Jazz Festival, The Purcell Room, The Edinburgh Festival, ¡Cubafest! at Riverside Studios, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Waterford Festival, Canterbury Music Festival and The Covent Garden Festival.

“... a tapestry of sound, woven from samba and liturgical choral singing, from swirls of circus organs and from the sea itself ... the music of Marietta Veulens constantly inventive and technically first-class.”
